Letter from the President
I am truly honored to be elected as the President of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals. ASCIP has been my professional home since 2012, and I am humbled by the opportunity to give back to this important community.

Jennifer Piatt, PhD, CTRS
ASCIP President
ASCIP is a special place because of the people and how we each connect and collaborate across disciplines. We continue to come together with the common goal of improving the lives of people living with spinal cord injury or disease. Every single time I have an interaction with a member of ASCIP – whether its at our annual conference, engaging in committee work, lacing up shoes for an early morning run, or grabbing lunch – I am reminded again and again of the passion, commitment and heart that each member of this organization brings to the SCI/D community.
As I step int this role, my focus will be to listen, learn, and work alongside each one of you. ASCIP will continue to be a place where every member feels welcomed, supported and inspired. Collectively, we can grow our community, strengthen relationships, provide leadership opportunities, and launch research to improve evidence-based practice. I encourage you to reach out to me if you would like to get involved in service, or have a suggestion or an idea for the ASCIP executive board.
I am extremely grateful to follow in the footsteps of the incredible past presidents of ASCIP who have guided the organization of where it is today. I know collectively, as we all continue to stay involved, we will embrace the mission of ASCIP.
Thank you for trusting me with this opportunity. I am excited about my presidency and look forward to connecting and learning more about each member.
With Gratitude,
Jennifer Piatt, PhD, CTRS
